Visibility Score

Visibility Score is GEORate’s main metric representing the overall strength of your brand’s presence in AI model responses.

Value range

A value between 0 and 100, where:

  • 0 — the brand does not appear in any AI response
  • 100 — the brand appears in all responses in high positions with positive sentiment

How is it calculated?

Visibility Score = SUM(MentionScore) / active_prompt_count

Each mention receives a MentionScore:

MentionScore = confidence × PositionWeight × SentimentWeight

Component weights

PositionWeight — weight of the ranking position:

  • Brand in position 1 → weight = 1.0
  • Brand in position 3 → weight = 0.33
  • Brand not included in a ranking → weight = 0.2 (fallback)

SentimentWeight — sentiment weight:

confidence — how confident the AI model is about the detected mention (0–1).

Example

Prompt: “What brand monitoring tools do you recommend?”

The AI response mentions your brand in position 2, with positive sentiment, confidence = 0.95:

MentionScore = 0.95 × (1/2) × 1.0 = 0.475

If the project has 10 prompts and the brand appears in 5 of them with an average MentionScore = 0.4:

Visibility Score = (5 × 0.4) / 10 = 0.20 → after normalization ≈ 20

How do you improve Visibility Score?

  1. Add more relevant prompts — questions where your brand should appear
  2. Optimize your content — publish content that AI cites as a source
  3. Increase brand awareness — more mentions online = more mentions in AI
  4. Monitor trends — analyze which clusters have the lowest score
